Fractl Inc., which created an open-source programming language for creating generative artificial intelligence applications, announced that it has completed a pre-seed investment round with a USD 1.025 million hike.
Additionally, the business revealed a programming platform for software-as-a-service development that is limited in availability and, according to the company, ten times more affordable than conventional cloud-native tools.
According to the company, the Fractl language is more appropriate for AI-powered code generation than conventional languages like Python and JavaScript because it is built on business-level abstraction. The language reduces complexity and enables developers to concentrate on business objectives using declarative abstraction. This programming notion communicates the logic of a computation without explicitly describing its control flow. Fractl asserts that tens of thousands of lines of code in more popular languages cannot accomplish the same goals as a few hundred lines of code written in its language.
Chief Executive Ranga Rao said, “Developers live at a very low level of abstraction with traditional programming languages where they have to tell the computer what to do and how to do it in lots of detail. Human beings think in natural language. We are trying to raise the abstraction to allow programming to be closer to natural language. It’s drawing what a system should do on a whiteboard instead of specifying the low-level details.”
No-code with Built-in Generative AI
Fractl Design Studio, the company’s commercial offering, integrates an integrated copilot with natural language prompts and blends traditional coding and no-code drag-and-drop software development. Using generative AI prompts provided by OpenAI LP’s application program interface, developers can create an application’s framework and modify it within the code or in the design studio. After that, the code is built to operate on a Java virtual machine as Java byte code.
Rao stated, “It makes it easy for your mental state to reside in the business domain and not be context-switching to technical aspects of developing the program. We are building a lot of visual tools because the programming abstraction is so high. But the most important efficiency comes from leveraging generative AI at every step of development to generate and evolve the application.”
The code is entirely compatible with Clojure, a popular language in the Java community. “If you have an investment in Clojure and Java libraries, you absolutely don’t have to give up on them. You can leverage Fractl to build applications using those libraries,” Rao mentioned.
Fractl.io hopes to generate revenue from the open-source distribution of the Fractl language through its Design Studio and Fractl.io Cloud, a multitenant, secure DevOps platform for deploying and managing Fractl apps.
The investment round was led by WestWave Capital LLC, with January Capital Pty Ltd. and Arka Venture Labs Fund LP participating.
