Artificial Intelligence-powered content creation platform Jasper Inc is now ready for prime time after closing a large USD 125 million round of funding that put its value at USD 1.5 billion.

Insight Partners led today’s Series A round. Others who participated in this round include Coatue, Bessemer Venture Partners, IVP, Foundation Capital, Founders Circle Capital, HubSpot Ventures, and others.

Jasper is trying to make generative AI more accessible so that anyone, including small businesses and individuals, can use it. It aims to help people get over “writer’s block” and make it possible for anyone to write exciting prose, make original art, or repackage content already made. Jasper wants to help everyone, from single creatives to large teams. Jasper claims its tools have been used to write and illustrate children’s books, make sales copy for websites, help people who don’t speak English as their first language communicate better, and more.

The generative AI of Jasper comes in the form of a Chrome browser extension that can be used on any website or platform for making content. If a content creator runs out of words, all they have to do is click on Jasper and get suggestions based on the context for their following phrase or sentence. This makes sure that the words never stop coming.

But it’s not just about getting past writer’s block. Jasper can also write an entire article. The user just needs to explain Jasper in natural language what they want, and Jasper will come up with a good, keyword-rich piece on almost any subject.

The Jasper extension works with Google Docs, Gmail, Notion, HubSpot, Shopify, and most content management systems and social media platforms.

Dave Rogenmoser, the CEO of Jasper, said that generative AI is a big step forward for creativity. But up until now, it has been hard to get to and scary, he said. This is something Jasper wants to change. Rogenmoser said, “Jasper is working to make AI more accessible and teach people how to use it responsibly so that businesses and people can better communicate their ideas.”

Not just Jasper’s investors think so. Since its release in January 2021, Jasper has gained more than 70,000 paying users. These users include both individuals and teams at large businesses.

Insight Partners Managing Director Jeff Horing said, “The company has built an enormous community around AI in such a short time, and we see new use cases shared every day, including in the enterprise.”
