Nvidia Corp. reportedly acquired Gretel Labs Inc., a synthetic data platform startup that assists businesses and developers in generating artificial datasets that resemble the features of real data to be used in artificial intelligence models.

According to reports, citing “two people with direct knowledge of the deal,” Nvidia purchased Gretel for a nine-figure sum, exceeding the company’s most recent valuation of USD 320 million.

Founded in 2019, Gretel provides a synthetic data platform that helps organizations generate realistic, privacy-preserving datasets for AI and machine learning applications. Utilizing advanced generative models, the platform creates artificial data that maintains the statistical properties of real-world datasets while safeguarding data privacy.

Gretel’s platform supports various data types, including time-series data, structured tabular data, and unstructured text. This allows companies to securely share, analyze, and develop AI models without compromising sensitive or proprietary information.
