Recently, the Israeli AI startup specializing in code-checking, Qodo, raised USD 40 million in new funding to develop further its platform focused on improving code integrity and reliability.

Established in 2022 as CodiumAI Ltd., Qodo offers a service that leverages AI and an integrated suite of tools to improve software quality and reliability throughout the development lifecycle. The platform is designed to support developers by providing intelligent code generation, testing, reviews, and documentation.

The service aims to tackle a growing challenge in software development: while AI-driven code generation is being rapidly adopted due to its benefits, concerns about code quality and insufficient safeguards for enterprise-level implementation are also on the rise. Qodo asserts that as AI-generated code becomes more prevalent, ensuring its reliability is crucial to prevent bugs that could affect millions of users.

Qodo adopts an AI-powered software development approach that prioritizes code quality and reliability. Its platform incorporates agentic AI directly into the tools developers use, such as popular integrated development environments (IDEs), version control systems like Git, and command-line interfaces. By supporting intelligent code generation, testing, comprehensive reviews, and documentation, Qodo ensures a focus on quality at every stage of the development process.

“As we shift toward AI-native code development, success won’t come from rushing to automate everything. Instead, we need to carefully integrate AI tools to enhance human expertise, focusing on quality and adaptability rather than just speed. Through comprehensive testing and reviewing, embedded into each stage of the software development lifecycle, we will be able to rely on AI agents as an integral part of the team, dramatically reducing fear of bugs or hallucinations,” said Co-founder and Chief Executive Itamar Friedman.

Since the launch of its TestGPT platform in March 2023, Qodo has experienced significant growth and is now utilized by over 1 million developers. Prominent companies utilizing Qodo’s services include Intel Corp., Nexxen Technologies Inc., Melio Payments Inc., Percepto Robotics Inc., and Loft Holdings Inc.

The Series A funding round was co-led by Susa Ventures and Square Peg Capital Pty. Ltd., with participation from Firestreak Ventures, ICON Continuity Fund LP, TLV Partners Ltd., and Vine Ventures. With this latest round, Qodo has raised a total of USD 50 million to date.
