Vectary, a 3D and augmented reality (AR) design platform, raised about USD 7.3 million or EUR 5.9 million in a funding round led by EQT Ventures. Also, an existing investor BlueYard participated in the funding round. The funding will not only accelerate the platform’s services; it will also continue to make high-quality 3D design accessible for everyone and enhance the web for a perfect 3D/AR experience.
The company was founded in 2014, and its high-quality 3D designs are accessible for consumers, garnering over one million-plus creators worldwide. Several digital agencies and creative studios are using Vectary to provide 3D content to millions of users. Due to the pandemic, Vectary witnessed a 300% rise in AR views as businesses have shifted their focus and products to 3D and AR.
The founders, namely, Michal Koor (CEO) and Pavol Sovis (CTO), have experience in the design and technology sector. Koor faced a lot of problems in using and sharing 3D content and thus wanted to develop something that helps designers get results without researching and using traditional tools.
With new advances in hardware and software and increased network speeds enabling a good range of 3D/AR content, the coming times will witness a positive transformation. The future will see configurable 3D assets, more VR/AR designs, and content for 2D. Several brands remained in the quiet during the pandemic and worked on integrating 3D/AR in their products.
“3D will eventually outpace 2D,” said Michal Koor, Co-Founder and CEO at Vectary. “Understanding the shape, depth and scale of objects is particularly important when choosing and purchasing products and soon having 3D content on a site will be as familiar as having a JPEG image is now. With more people now consuming content and working in virtual environments, giving designers the ability to create and share 3D/AR content has become increasingly important. Vectary’s goal is to democratize the creation, sharing and collaboration around 3D/AR content and we’re excited to have Ted Persson and the EQT Ventures team join us on the next stage of our journey. Having co-founded a number of successful digital agencies, Ted’s experience and passion for design will be invaluable as we continue to develop our product and offering.”
Ted Persson, Partner at EQT Ventures, will join Vectary’s board and said: “Vectary’s proving that 3D and AR experiences are what will drive the web forwards. Pavol, Michal and the Vectary team are incredibly product-driven and have a true passion for design. They’ve created a fantastic product with a beautiful user interface that can be used by beginners and 2D designers, as well as more experienced 3D designers. There are huge opportunities ahead and I’m excited to be a part of making design history with the Vectary team and continue to develop this offering into something that becomes the norm for designers.”
